LONG Update

Like I said, I'm probably going to be horrible at updating this thing. I've been working alot of 3-11 shifts, so when I get home its all I can do to brush my teeth and crawl in bed so I have been bad about blogging. I'll get better, I promise!

Well, lets see, what has happened in the last 2 weeks? We have been praying pretty desperately for Caleb to find a job for the rest of the semester and summer. I won't mention names, but a particular golf course led him along in the hiring process for over a month and then rejected him. We took it pretty hard and have been working double time to find him a job. Last Wed. our prayers were answered and not only did he get one job, but TWO!

We are officially a Marriott family, because Caleb is now working facilities at the hotel with me 20 hours a week. My boss really went out of his way to help us out so we are really grateful. So, while that is only 20 hours, the professor that Caleb has worked for all year at the university asked him to stay on and do research for him all summer. His only condition is that he can't work past July 31, which is PERFECT since our lease is up then and we are moving to DC! Phew, what a TOTAL answer to prayer!!!

Scarlett's 1st birthday was on Thursday, and it was pretty eventful. As my mom says, she is definitely my dog. About 2 days before her birthday she started having an unusual amount of accidents in the house which NEVER happens because she is completely obnoxious about us taking her out. The final straw was when she actually peed on Caleb. We called the vet and they scared us into bringing her into the emergency vet at 11:30 that night. Two hours later they told us they thought she had kidney disease, diabetes or some other horrible disease and needed to see internal medicine which would cost $1500 on top of the $300 for keeping her in the hospital that night..... Caleb told me they were full of crap and he dragged me crying and the dog out of there. The next morning I took her back and they ran all sorts of good, expensive tests to tell me she had a bad urinary tract infection. She should be better after 2 weeks of anti-biotics. In the meantime, Caleb has renamed her puddles.... I am not amused.

Right now I am actually in Dallas sister-sitting for a few days while my parents are on vacation. It's nice to have a few days away from the hotel. Last night I had to bust up a lady's 50th birthday party in our lobby due to illegal outside alcohol being served to minors and they were being obnoxiously loud.... sometimes I wonder why I put up with some of that stuff. Ah, that's right, the bills. O well, it's only for a few more months. My only other hotel story for this week is a sweet one. A man and his two small children have been in the hotel all weekend. Last night about 9 they came to buy chocolate and sodas. The dad was striking up a conversation with me and the little boy (maybe age 8) got upset and wanted to hurry back to the game which he informed his dad was in the 19th inning. The dad scolded him and told him to quit exaggerating. Anyways, 10 minutes later the dad called the front desk to tell me that his kid wasn't lying that the Mets and Cardinals actually WERE in the 19th inning. I jokingly told him to call me and let me know how it ended up. A little while later I answered the phone and this precious little voice said, "hi, this is jake, the kid who bought the 3 musketeers. i just wanted to let you know that the Mets won." I laughed and asked him who he had wanted to win, and he said the Cardinals, so I wished him luck on the next game. Some guests are so fun!

Anyways, the last BIG news we have..................... (no its not a baby)....................... is that Caleb got his aggie ring on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is such a huge part of the aggie tradition and one of the greatest days as an aggie student. I had so much fun watching Caleb get so excited when they opened the box. His ring is HUGE! I'm so proud of him for working so hard and now the whole world will know that "we are the aggies, the aggies are we!"

Here are a few pictures from ring day:

Welcome to our Blog!!!!

Well, we are jumping on the blog bandwagon! Since we are moving to DC here in a few months, we figured this would be the easiest way to keep everyone updated on all of our adventures! I'm going to start blogging now so hopefully I can figure it all out and be a pro by the fall.

Spring is flying by down in College Station. Caleb gets his aggie ring next weekend and graduates in a month! I'm still working at the Marriott Courtyard in town, which has its good days and its bad days.

Last weekend Caleb and I went up to DC to visit our schools and go apatment shopping. Besides that it is beyond expensive to live up north and it is nearly impossible to find where you are going without a gps (or in our case my iphone) we really liked it! We are still thinking through our apartment options, but I'll keep ya posted when we finally do make a decision.

Scarlett is going to be 1 year old next week! I can't believe I've had her for a year already. It's hard to believe that I bought her when Caleb went to DC for his summer internship and now we are looking for a new home to take her to up there. I didn't realize that Virginia was so dog friendly so I'm sure she is going to have a blast. Plus, she LOVES snow- so I guess she was meant for the northeast.

I hate to speak for Caleb, but I'll risk it and say that we both LOVE being married! Friday will be our 3 month anniversary- I can't believe how fast its gone. One of my favorite parts of being married is that I love that even on the hard days, we always find a way to laugh it off. I've always loved  listening to my parents tell stories about how they found their way when they first got married- some stories are REALLY funny. It's fun to know that we are making our own memories and stories that we can one day tell our kids- like the time I left the candle on in the apartment for 6 hours and it didnt burn the place down, befriending "smoker-shacker," the girl who seems to live with our next door neighbor, the dog peeing on Caleb 3 times in one day haha etc.

I'm not sure how often I'll update right now because our lives aren't really all that interesting lol. BUT i'll be sure to keep everyone as up to date as I can!
